Startup Europe Week in Ciudad Real

The Startup Europe Week is an initiative of Startup Europe and The European Commission. From the 1st to 5th February 2016, The SEW will unite all european regions to help entrepreneurs make a difference and turn Europe in a better place to start and grow a business. Entrepreneurs will have the chance to meet the most relevant people supporting entrepreneurship in their region.

People from different countries applied for being a SEW Co-Organizer in its region. In my case, I thought It could be a great opporturnity for my province, Ciudad Real, and I decided to apply for this interesting project. Now, It is a pleasure to say I got the chance to be a SEW Co-Organizer and I am starting to organize the event.

The SEW will be an awesome opportunity for those interested in entrepreneurship to learn about resources already available in our region and at the European Level. In Ciudad Real, there are different organizations, institutions, entrepreneurs and even studies dedicated to promote entrepreneurship helping entrepreneurs to start their businesses. In the SEW we can call them to action getting them together to know what can the entrepreneurs do in a local and European level. They are working hard day by day to help entrepreneurs and the SEW could be a perfect complement in their work.

During 2015, a group of people from Spain is working to create an organization for lively youth minds in Ciudad Real. The organization starts in my home village, Villarrubia de los Ojos, and its name is Rubeum. Rubeum will support the SEW in the organization labour. However, we will need every help that is possible, so we would like to invite everybody to participe in the Ciudad Real SEW.

Regarding the format from Startup Europe Week Ciudad Real, all SEW events will:

  • Focus on regions: what local / regional authorities or “ecosystem players” can do for entrepreneurs locally. It will consist of information sessions on local specific actions currently developed by your local authority to support entrepreneurs such as grants, tax breaks, office space, funding, etc.
  • Have local support / hands-on approach: every event or talk will offer tips and will help the participants to access local grants, local support, office space, etc.
  • Meetup format and networking sessions: the meetup format events are sessions with a total duration of 1h30-2h focusing on putting local ecosystem players in contact with local entrepreneurs.
  • Showcase Startup Europe Initiatives: as an additional aspect, the events will inform entrepreneurs about the various opportunities for entrepreneurs to get additional funding / sponsorship or endorsement by Startup Europe / European Commission.

The idea is to organize an useful event for entrepreneurs to introduce theirself in the possibilities they have to start a business in Ciudad Real. That’s why It is very important all the institutions, organizations, startups and entrepreneurs participate in the SEW. I would like to invite all to support and organize the event next to me and Rubeum. Thank you so much and see you in the Startup Europe Week! 🙂
